I have been writing about the Biker Lifestyle for years as a freelance writer and I have also been DJing Bike events for many years. I knew I wanted to bring the two together and do a Biker Style radio show right from the beginning. I had spoken with local stations in my area about doing a Biker radio show and each time the radio station either wanted lots of money up front or they just wanted nothing to do with a Biker radio show. The Biker market is what they call a niche Market and stations want shows that will appeal to everyone.

knew that the motorcycle market was going to be tough. If I was to use regular radio station I was going to only be able offer the show to local Bikers and it would be a show that was on only at a certain time every week, so if you missed the show well that’s it you missed it. This is not what I really wanted.

I wanted a show where Bikers from all over the world could listen in and be part of it. Being We are Bikers and never know where we will be at any given time I also wanted the Bikers to be able to listen to the show on their time schedule. The answer I knew was the Internet. But how to do it? I had no Idea.

I didn’t have the cash to start my own Internet radio station. So I started looking into existing Internet stations. Again the same problems everyone wanted money upfront and the shows would only be on at a certain time! I knew there was a way to make this work I just did not know what it was!

The answer came during the Summer of 2008 when a guy from Florida called the Paisan sent me an email saying he had read some of my articles and he would like to interview me on his Internet radio show called Sundays Sauce Pot. I called him and after speaking to him I agreed to be on the show.

The show I did with the Paisan and his partner Danny Dawg was unforgettable and I had a great time. I developed a friendship with Danny Dawg and the Paisan. When I told them how I wanted to do my own Show for years they where happy to explain how I could do a show like theirs. The show would go Live at 8pm on Wednesdays and could be listen to from the beginning any time a person went to the website from any computer world wide 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This was perfect it was everything I had been looking for over 10 years! With help I figured out how to work every thing and the Biker Lowdown Radio Show was born.

I had originally planned on waiting to start the show in January as I wanted to make sure everything was perfect! Then I remembered nothing in life is perfect and I just started the show as is. The response the show has received has been beyond anything I could have hoped for and has really been overwhelming!

The Biker Lowdown chat room gets busier every week and it lets listeners know they are really a part of the show! My goals for the show is to be entertaining and let all who Ride know what is going on in the Motorcycle world at the same time. I am also working on a much larger more inter active website and I am getting ready to start having T-Shirts, Bumper Stickers and so much more to give out to my listens at events! I invite you all to check out the show at BikerLowdown.com let me know what you think and what topics you would like to talk about !

I am Your Bro LJ James AmericanBikerX.com I’ll See you on the road!!!

Don’t think that SIRIUS and XM are adults-only medium, obsessed with shock jocks and edgy comedians. There is plenty of family-friendly content available for both providers. While satellite radio has allowed for more free speech than conventional radio has ever attempted (since analog radio is controlled by numerous sponsors and consumers groups) they have also managed to create numerous shows and channels meant for children and families. Consider some of their most popular programming that is suitable for all ages.

SIRIUS made headlines by acquiring Martha Stewart’s input for a new channel called Martha Stewart Living Radio, as well as high profile political commentators like Bill Press, Michael Reagan, Bill Bennett, Lynn Samuels and G. Gordon Liddy. They have also secured deals with celebrity musicians for exclusive music channels from such talents as Bruce Springsteen, Joan Jett and Rolling Stones Radio. SIRIUS radio has also led the way in original Christian programming with gospel music channels like Spirit and Praise and the FamilyNet Radio channel, covering Christian lifestyle talk.

There are also channels devoted to health and medical information such as Doctor Radio, as well as children’s programming from the Radio Disney Channel and Kids Stuff. You can also reminisce with the RadioClassics old time radio channel or sample sports programming from the Sirius NFL Radio channel, the Sports Play-by-Play 1 or the ESPNEWS channel. Recently, SIRIUS announced plans for a video service called Backseat TV, which will feature streaming video from three family-oriented channels in Nickelodeon, The Disney Channel and Cartoon Network Mobile. This will allow backseat drivers to enjoy a decent show while the folks drive on to the destination. This is a great way to keep the kids entertained!

How about the XM channel? XM offers more options in the way of family entertainment, including children’s channels like Radio Disney and XM kids as well as family comedy shows like Laugh USA. There are also general entertainment channels to consider like Oprah & Friends, a self-help talk station, E! Entertainment Radio and XM Live for the latest news. There is also the Sonic Theater channel, which features audio books and radio dramas as well as the Radio Classics channel, which delivers old time radio to longtime listeners.

In the coming years, listeners will have even more options for family entertainment, including the ability to customize their own stations and block adult programming. SIRIUS and XM are even discussing a new deal that would allow users to choose only 50 channels of their choice for a reduced price, rather than paying a full subscription price and getting 200+ channels.

The family-friendly option the companies are working on will allow subscribers to block adult programming and actually receive a price credit for their decision, meaning they can save additional money or order another channel in place of the blocked one. This is called “a la carte programming” and will debut shortly, following the official merger. Both providers offer the best of radio programming today, whether you are looking for adult fun or fun for the whole family.

This is a brief article on my opinion of satellite radio since I purchased it almost 5 years ago. These opinions are my own, and I’m sure others will differ. You can always have your own opinion if just go out and buy a Sirius universal tuner, and hook it up to your car. Then you can make your mind up on the matter.

I originally purchased a cheap Sirius tuner because I was taking a 1200 mile trip about 3 times a year in an automobile. I always ran through some long stretches where I encountered some dead zones. The relatively new satellite radio seemed the perfect solution.

Once I started using this radio at home on a regular basis I found out that I may have lucked out. I had perfectly good reception in my home town, but when I drove to a highly populated area about 15 miles to the north I couldn’t get a clear signal. It seemed all of the lower FM frequencies which Sirius was using were all being used by local radio stations, causing them to bleed over to the satellite station. I haven’t given it a whole lot of thought, but what are these people doing to correct their poor reception?

So here I am driving down the road, listening to my 70’s and 80’s music stations where I come upon an ad for XM radio and they are covering all of the major league baseball games for the upcoming season.. I am a baseball junkie, so back online I go and purchase an XM receiver. This turned out to be a good deal for a transplant like me who has followed the White Sox since I was 7 years old. I get to listen to the home town announcers call all of the games.

I found the XM receiver to have the same problems that the Sirius tuner had. I was getting poor reception in high traffic areas. They both cover similar subjects as far as music, talk shows both right and left, and the weather and road conditions for about 50 cities nationwide. The one difference is the sports programming. While XM has baseball, Sirius covers college and NFL football along with others that I didn’t have as much interest in.

I attempted to cancel my subscription to each provider once a season ended, but had a tough time doing it. In the beginning they kept my account open and gave me a month of free listening. By the third year it was up to 4 months to where the seasons were overlapping.

I see that Sirius and Xm are going to merge. I don’t know how this is going to effect the programming or the cost of the subscription, but I imagine I’ll still be able to take my 1200 mile trip 3 times a year and listen to my Sirius radio still using that cheap Sirius universal tuner that I got 5 years ago.

News reports have been circulating of the potential that a new streaming radio application will be available soon for the Apple iPhone. Sirius XM Radio subscribers with Internet radio subscriptions will be able to receive their favorite streaming radio channels without the need for a satellite radio. This application has been long awaited by satellite radio subscribers and could potentially boost Sirius XM Radio’s subscriber base.

After the merger between the two satellite giants XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio took place many subscribers have been concerned about the need for new satellite radios. Although this concerned has been unwarranted due to Sirius XM Radio’s release that existing radios will continue to work the potential has prevented some radio listeners from making the leap to satellite radio. This streaming radio application for the iPhone could put some of those fears to rest and increase the number of subscribers to Sirius XM Radio Inc.

The Apple iPhone is a dazzling device that is still making waves across the country and can provide listeners with the personal radio options that they crave from Sirius Radio such as exclusive content from Howard Stern and Martha Stewart or exclusive sports coverage from SIRIUS NFL Radio and SIRIUS NASCAR Radio while providing listeners with a way of switching over to their favorite MP3s.

Sirius XM Radio subscribers that are looking for a solution in their vehicles will want to consider a satellite radio for the best coverage possible including clarity and channel choices that may not be available in the Internet channel lineup. The majority of vehicles on the market today come equip with Sirius XM Radio capabilities. The streaming radio application expected for the iPhone would not be suitable as a vehicle solution.

Office workers and bus or train commuters will enjoy the ability to connect to the Internet using their iPhone while tuning in for the work day or long ride home to hear their favorite stations and artists. The Sirius Stiletto 2, a Sirius satellite radio, has the benefit of recording programs, artists, and sports games to listen to at a later date. There is no word whether recording capabilities would be present in the new application. Internet subscribers to Sirius Internet Radio currently do not have that capability. For users looking for recording functionality the Sirius Stiletto 2 would still be the best solution for satellite radio.

Sirius XM Radio offers over 200 radio channels of various content including multiple music stations that are 100% commercial free. Subscribers have a bountiful selection of sports programs, news radio, and talk shows available including some family programming and classic radio programs alongside a variety of International stations. There is something for everyone ages 5 to 75 on Sirius XM Radio.

With the passage of the element, one identifies as time, many new changes have taken place along with the inception of many new wonderful technologies inside radios. The term ‘radio’ has itself assumed many new dimensions by being able to rid itself of its materialistic garb and being a new as well as a fantastic addition to the entertainment facets of the Internet. Therefore, Live Internet radio, is now a dominant feature without the need of having a machine made up of wires and chips and many other gadgets.

One of the major innovations that took place was the emergence of the satellite radio which used communication satellites to for its functioning and, therefore, was able to provide its services to a wider span of terrain when compared to the standard radio. However these devices were prone to some hassles due to objects residing on the ground like tall structures which effected the reaching of radio signals and, therefore, became a quality hindering factor. In order to counter these effects many more devices were needed along with the basic radio and, therefore, the user was prone to having lots of anxieties about these devices whenever they acquired them. Apart from these minor hassles, satellite radios are fantastic devices and have been responsible in a major way towards the advancements that have taken place with a rapid degree.

The human brain is always one which has been inquisitive enough to go for the best even after the creation of excellence. With the introduction of W3C, the feature of internet is also another major advancement which has taken place, and, the inclusion of the feature of radio in the form of live Internet radio has taken the aspect of entertainment to the next feasible level.

The choice of radio channels is perhaps one of the striking differentiating aspects between satellite radios and the technology of live Internet radio. This becomes evident in the number of live radio stations which are normally huge and, the user, therefore, has immense options to choose from. The ease of usage is also another feature with most of the websites which have this feature being able to impart the radio services to their customers with just a touch of a button on the keyboard or a soft press on the mouse.

Both the features are able to provide an access to most of the radio channels operating in the world, but each has its own process of doing so. Although affordability is one aspect of acquiring a satellite radio, but the meaning of the word ‘free’ is visible in the feature of live Internet radio.
