While firms and companies have been increasing focussed on the health and safety of their staff over the past few years, the same concern for their employee’s mental health’s concerns at their place of work is a far more recent phenomenon.

The Confederation of British Industry conducted a survey on the issue in which 90 per cent of correspondents agreed that employees’ mental health in the workplace should be of concern to companies, but less than a tenth of them had formulated a mental health policy.

With people now spending more and more time in the workplace, the importance of their mental health is becoming an increasingly important issue. The stress of the modern day workplace means that the psychological and well being of both management and staff is just important as their physical health and safety at work. Arguably mental and psychological health issues should become a major part of a company’s health and safety policy.

The good news is that more companies are now becoming aware of mental health issues within the workforce and actively encourage management and staff to attend training courses designed to being stress under control in the workplace.

Mental health awareness courses are of great benefit to workers. It makes them aware of stress and gives them the skills to deal with it. It also enables them to recognise signs of work related stress when it appears in colleagues.

These courses on mental health and stress in the workplace are also crucial for companies themselves. The effects of stressed out employees can have a detrimental affect on productivity and that leads to a fall in profits. Stress can also lead to other problems in the workforce, including absenteeism. Allowing employees to attend mental health in the workplace courses will help those already struggling with stress to deal with it, and allow others to guard against its effects and deal with it should it occur.

A huge benefit from attending mental health in the workplace awareness courses is that both management and staff will gain vital knowledge recognising stress and by learning what makes it occur.

Mindworks Training are located in Hull and offer corporate mental health training courses including Stress Managemnt Training for employers wishing to increase the effectiveness of their workforce by raising awareness of stress and other mental health issues

It is very easy for you to simply try out a drug when in college, or with friends. But what is important is whether or not you get addicted to it. And if you do get addicted, it is a never ending cycle of pain and suffering. Too much of an addiction can even lead one to go towards extreme depression. Psychiatric problems combined with a strong addiction can be really difficult to overcome. Substance abuse can be a huge problem. That is why you need a detailed analysis of the situation, followed by a therapy session, which will focus on you and your quick recovery.

I think one rehab which is good is the Cliffside Malibu, which is a licensed dual diagnosis residential treatment center and has a combination of clinical and psychiatric experts who are trained to correctly diagnose and meet the unique needs of patients suffering from substance abuse and a co-occurring emotional or psychiatric illness.

The residence program offers safe and sound recovery options, luxury facilities and healthy food. Many therapy sessions tailor-made by the experts and doctors are also offered. A dual diagnosis treatment will help you overcome both your addiction and depression problems. Depression can be a part of your life if too much of addiction is present.

It is important to focus on the recovery rather than be tensed about it. You can have gourmet meals, spa treatments and lots of recreational activities, which promise to make your stay here memorable. Pressure and tension will be a part of your life, and these are the things you need to remove them in a jiffy.

Detox, art therapy and spirituality are also in the offing. Patients are assessed on a clinical and psychological level when they come in. This is followed by a detailed discussion with the patient and his family. The therapy sessions and what they have to offer you are discussed at length, and once you feel comfortable with them, it is carried forward. Experience of a rehab center is also important in knowing how it is going to deal with your problems. So if you think you need help, contact them at 800-501-1988.

Learn how you too can get treated at Cliffside Malibu. Visit the Cliffside Malibu site for more information on all kinds of treatment.

The natural ways to treat depression are much cheaper than prescription drugs and are also considered to be efficient. These include practice, meditation, sleep, NLP and hypnosis also as having a balanced diet.

The natural ways to treat depression are much cheaper than prescription drugs and are also considered to be efficient. These include practice, meditation, sleep, NLP and hypnosis also as having a balanced diet.

Practice is one of the good ways to treat depression because it acts as a mood booster and is believed to be better than prescription medications in preventing the recurrence of mild to moderate depression.

These natural ways to treat depression are more preferent by numerous over prescription drugs because antidepressants and sleeping tablets may be addictive and can result to further and added problems. But if the sick person is already taking prescription antidepressants, you have to check with your physician whether or not any of these substitute treatments are going to be good for your case.

Since stress assists trigger depression, you should likewise learn to manage stress efficaciously and stay clear from taking illegal drugs or those that were not prescribed by your doctor to keep out of the way of substance abuse.

In a lot of cases, supportive care that involves counseling sessions with your doctor is likewise as helpful as prescription antidepressants. It would likewise support a lot if you get assist from family in addition as from other individuals having this disorder. Other treatment being considered is the combination of behavioral, cognitive and interpersonal therapy.

You see, I thought it was my problem and that I would deal with it in my own way. But that didn’t work out the way I planned. Because, I noticed I was angry all of the time. I was short with my children and I similarly was short with my wife as well.

I tried treating my depression with “natural alternatives”. I tried to get my serotonin levels, higher of course, because that would pull me out of the depression. But again, things did not work out that way.

So I gave in and went to the doctor. I told them my difficulties and they put me on a drug for anxiety and depression since they both pretty much go hand-in-hand.

Men may experience a loss of sexual drive and this only adds to their sensations of worthlessness. They see this as a failure and an indication of their manhood. This could not be any farther from the truth. It is a medical condition that is caused from their depression.

Depression is a medical condition that needs to be treated. It’s not a sign of weakness and ought not be considered a woman’s sickness.

What causes depression is a lack of balance or state of disequilibrium of serotonin, a hormone, in the brain. It has been linked as a major contributor and a cause for somebody deciding to kill themselves.

The number of individuals who are downhearted and die from suicide is roughly fifth-teen percent. Men are four times as likely as women to die from an attempted self-killing, even though women undertake it more frequently but with failure. The elderly have the most eminent rate of successful suicides with sixty four dieing from suicide for every one hundred thousand who die generally. The amounts of recorded suicides globally have been regularly incrementing for years now, along with the quantity of people diagnosed with depression.

If you or somebody you recognise is suicidal you ought to seek professional support for them. Whether or not what the age or gender, it’s not a healthy train of thought in the least. If see it as an undertake for attention and that they won’t try.

Are you depressed? Have you found your life changed forever by something that you'd never given much thought to before? Depression?

Are you depressed? Have you found your life changed forever by something that you’d never given much thought to before? Depression? This is the case for so many people, and there are also so many people who aren’t aware that a simple natural depression cure may well make the difference.

There is an assumption that depression is a condition that can only be tackled by health professionals, that it will only respond to pharmaceuticals. And for this reason so many people end up on an endless circle of drugs which are supposed to treat your depression but may at times be as bad as the depression itself.

Is you life like this? Have you ended up on one drug after another? Do you suffer from insomnia? Have you put on weight? Do you find that one drug just seems to lead to another to combat the effects of the first drug? That some of these drugs are addictive?

Do you wish you didn’t feel medicated any more? That the cure is worse than the cause? That your life has been taken over by drugs?

It’s not uncommon to feel like that. Once your diagnosed with depression it can be one long slippery slope of pharmaceuticals. But not everyone needs to feel like this, because there are sometimes some simple natural depression cures that can make a big difference.

And that doesn’t even mention the cost. A diagnosis of depression can be almost as bad as handing your wallet over to your doctor, or the pharmacy. How much do all those drugs cost day after day, week after week and month after month. Wouldn’t you just love to have a month when you don’t have to pull your wallet out, again, and spend up big on more drugs, again.

There are some simple natural depression cures that can cost way less than those drugs, often nothing. They are not addictive. I’ll give you 2 quick examples out of many.

Number 1. Did you know that since the end of last century many studies have shown an inverse correlation between the intake of fish and the rate of depression? It’s true. There is a clear pattern. Societies of people who eat more fish have much lower rates of depression. Much lower. And we don’t eat as much fish as we did, and our depression rates are skyrocketing. Studies are now showing strong reasons to include more Omega 3 fatty acids in your diet to treat depression. Work is still continuing.

Number 2. There is a strong link between increasing exercise and lowering depression. There are chemical and psychological reasons why this is so, but it works.

Now there are many different causes of depression and there are also a wide range of cures, and there’s no guarantee that if you eat more fish and do more exercise your depression will be cured. But there are also a wide range of different natural depression cures and some of them may well work for you.

And of course as they are cheap or often free you’ll save big time.

But if you have depression you ought to be aware that drugs aren’t the only way to tackle depression, that there is a wide range of natural treatments for depression. Try them in conjunction with your current treatments and with your doctors consent, but try them. many of them will help you get healthier along the way, not a bad thing either.

So if you’re feeling drugged out and want some more options that may cost less and work, try some simple natural depression cures and you may well be saying goodbye to your depression and hello to bank balance.

If you’re among those suffering from from panic disorders or foreboding disorders, then you’re most likely always on the lookout for strategies which will prevent the onset of a panic episode. Luckily , this is a well analyzed topic and there are lots of options available that may fight uneasiness and depression at the same time. Many factors have been identified that will trigger a panic episode and there are always some very obvious and tell-tale signs when one is getting ready to happen.

Your capability to read these signs as early as possible is the best tool to stopping and counteracting them. Once you have trained yourself to recognize the signs that indicate that the beginning of a panic fit is just about to occur, you can move on to identify and learn about remedies for these.

The most vital cure while struggling against a panic disorder is to take action. Do not wait for it to clean over you ; don’t wait to pit your strength against it and measure your determination against the hurricane that’s made by a hysteria panic episode. The best way to fight it is to prevent it.

Traumatic as it is, some simple steps at the onset of an attack can help you tremendously. Most pros would say that you mustn’t steady yourself against it, but rather roll with the wave. In this manner, the attack will are temporary, and you won’t feel devastated the next day.

A little out of the way, but well advocated by doctors, is the effort to boost self-worth, which, it seems, is directly connected with depression anxiety. Depression in turn, occurs when your self-expectations are thwarted by your capabilities.

The timing is crucial, so you should be careful when one is taking over your self-control. You need to know that essentially all panic abnormalities are the results of some mismatch between who you believe you are and how others perceive you.

Panic disorders are the results of a psychological disease, and can turn regular, day-to-day Problems into mammoth fears and stress attacks if not treated. These attacks are enormously dire since they are disproportionate to reality and therefore , it becomes troublesome for you to defend yourself against it.

Health pros counsel the only things that will control such attacks are strong willpower, acceptable drugs and timely action. All of these initiatives should be applied at the same time in the proper order and intensity to give you relief.

My anxiety disorder impaired my day to day life both physically and emotionally. Charles Linden also suffered from an anxiety disorder in 1996. He decided to develop The Linden Method after actively researching anxiety disorders and meeting many of those suffering from the condition.

The Linden Method is a medication program that offers free counseling and a well established system. It has helped over 115,00 people all around the world. Finally someone has put a program together that truly works for everyone like me who sufferers form an anxiety disorder.

The Linden Method of controlling anxiety, phobias and panic disorders has since become very popular and the reviews from previous customers on the web site persuaded me to give it a try.

The physical cause of anxiety is actually the amygdala and the Linden Method is designed to tackle this part of the brain. I learned that in anxiety sufferers like me the amygdala is overactive. Therefore the Linden Method undid all my anxiety issues by regulating my amygdala .

Reasons to Use the Linden Method

It started to work right away!

I had no techniques to learn or material to memories. The Linden method did not require that I stopped my life to breathe a certain way, or meditate for a certain amount of time.

It has a wide range of applications from phobias to raised stress levels and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, (OCD), all the way through anxiety disorders like mine: The Linden Method is an effective treatment to all sorts of conditions.

Unlike most programs the Linden method is not just a treatment, it’s a cure.

Final words

For the last 7 years people have been using the Linden Method to cure their anxiety and it has proven to be very effective. It is also great that the Linden Method can treat other conditions. The creator of the Linden Method, Charles Linden, is also heavily involved in the treatment of his clients. He makes himself available to be contacted by everyone who signs up. I was also pleased to benefit from free counseling.

While many people might prefer lifestyle techniques the Linden Method, because of its immediate and lifelong effects, sounds like a much better deal to me.

Manic Depression or Bipolar Disorder is considered one of the most severe types of depression that people usually suffer from. Characterized by sudden and extreme mood swings. Manic depression is called that because manic means ‘mania’, which refers to the ‘ups’ while depression refers to the ‘downs’. Bi-polar also refers to both ends of the spectrum of emotions

A lot of people experience erratic changes in their moods and, sometimes, these so-called mood swings are not just caused by PMS (pre-menstrual syndrome) or stress. Doctors have diagnosed mood swings as a frequent symptom of depression, if these mood swings become severe. For example, if someone becomes annoyed because a shop does not have his favourite biscuits, it may only a sign of a spoilt brat, but when getting annoyed means that that person will shout and swear at the shop keeper, it may be the start of Manic Depression.

The ‘manic’ periods or ‘ups’ in Manic Depression (or Bi-polar Disorder) are described as the times when a person who has Manic Depression experiences extremely high periods, consisting of heightened energy, sudden outbursts of euphoric mood, extreme irritability, together with racing thoughts and aggressive behaviour. According to doctors, someone suffering from Manic Depression may have these so-called manic ‘periods’ not only for a day or so, they can actually go on for as long as a week or even longer.

During these so-called ‘low’ or ‘down’ periods, people who are suffering from Manic Depression may experience very similar symptoms to those who are suffering from ‘normal’ depression. People who are suffering from Manic Depression will experience episodes showing a depressed state of mind – including abject feelings of lack of self worth and being unloved.

There are many other signs too: irrational guilt, extreme sadness, anxiety attacks, feeling of not belonging, severe gloom and an obvious lack of pleasure. According to therapists, anyone who is depressed constantly for more than a week can be officially diagnosed as a Manic Depressive.

In spite of it being one of the most common and severe sorts of depressive disorder, Manic Depression can actually be treated, according to doctors. There’s no reason to worry too much about having it, just follow the procedures that the therapist tells you and take the prescribed medication in the proper dosage in order to help you (or your friend or love one) overcome Manic Depression before it becomes too late.

Also, people who suffer from Manic Depression should see their therapists regularly, in order to be able to release their repressed emotions to someone who is able interpret just what it is they are going through a lot better than an ordinary, untrained person.

Although positive results for Manic Depression can be obtained from natural remedies, a much more lasting relief from the symptoms of Manic Depressive can best be acquired through seeing a cognitive behaviour therapist. Contrary to some thought, when it comes to psychiatric treatments, psychiatrists, preferably those specializing in cognitive behaviour therapy, are still the best ones to visit for a permanent cure for Manic Depression.

Episodes of hypomania may warrant a diagnosis of bipolar II disorder if the person is also having episodes of depression. Hypomania causes symptoms of mania that are not severe enough to be considered a manic episode.

by Sheila Wilson

Episodes of hypomania may warrant a diagnosis of bipolar II disorder if the person is also having episodes of depression. Hypomania causes symptoms of mania that are not severe enough to be considered a manic episode.

Hypomanic episodes are also part of a diagnosis of cyclothymic disorder. Cyclothymic disorder is characterized by the presence of numerous hypomanic episodes for at least two years.

A hypomanic episode causes a mood disturbance that is an abnormally elevated or irritable mood that lasts for at least four days. For the symptoms to be considered evidence of a manic episode, the mood disturbance and other symptoms of mania must last at least one week or be severe enough to require hospitalization.

According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) by the American Psychiatric Association, the person must have at least three other symptoms of mania during the mood disturbance or four or more symptoms if the mood disturbance is irritibility for it to be considered a hypomanic episode. During an episode of hypomania, the person may develop distractibility and an inflated self-esteem or gradiosity which are two symptoms of mania.

Possible symptoms of mania include a decreased need for sleep, increased talkativeness, and racing thoughts. The decreased need for sleep can cause the person to sleep much less than usual, often as little as three hours a day, without a resulting fatigue or tiredness.

Another symptom of hypomania is a focus on goal-oriented behavior. The person may have a renewed and even obsessive pursuit of a goal. The goal may be related to work, personal achievement, social activities, or interpersonal relationships.

Hypomania can cause the person to engage in pleasurable activities without regards to the consequences of their behavior. These activities with which the person becomes excessively involved are often out of character for the person.

The symptoms of a hypomanic episode must cause an observable change in functioning. The change in functioning must not be severe enough to cause an impairment in occupational and social functioning.

If the symptoms persist for at least a week and become severe enough to cause an impairment in occupational or social functioning, the hypomanic episode may be considered a manic episode. In these cases, the person’s diagnosis may change from bipolar II disorder or cyclothymic disorder to bipolar I disorder since the presence of manic episodes is the defining trait of bipolar I disorder.

Many children have anxiety disorders. Anxiety disorders usually start at a young age effecting children and teens. Anxiety in children can be overlooked because parents can remember certain times in their childhood that had many uncomfortable feelings and also some awkwardness involved.

Things that as adults we laugh about can cause children some real anxiety. The first day at a new school or their first date can both be things that cause normal worry to turn into an anxiety attack.

It can be difficult telling what behaviors are just normally “acting out” and which ones are caused by the children being in a state of anxiety due to their daily lives. Events which seem unimportant initially can prey on your son or daughters mind and cause them to become anxious.

There are many possible symptoms of anxiety in a child, sweating and dizziness, having pain or discomfort with no explanations, repetitive behaviors, an over reaction to having physical contact, and insomnia and having trouble sleeping are just a few of them

People love watching their child grow and change. As a child develops abilities and fascinations they will also develop new fears and worries that go along with it and this can be very normal. A child may only show a few signs of anxiety. It just depends on the child.

Your child will normally start to be less clingy between the ages of 6 and 8, they will start to really like going to school and become less afraid of imagined things. This is also the age when you should be looking out for any of the symptoms of anxiety disorders.

If you think that your child may have an anxiety disorder then you may want to speak with a healthcare provider. A healthcare professional with a background for treating children can be a child’s best hope when it comes to living with anxiety.

There is treatment for anxiety in children like behavioral therapy and medication. When you seek professional advise let the healthcare professional know everything about how your child is acting so that a proper treatment can be given to your child.
