The great elixir, alcohol, has come to be many things to many people. For most it is a beverage meant to dull the edges of a hard day or make festive a gathering of friends and family. Alcohol has been banned, celebrated, and reviled, but it has also been a key component in scientific circles. Also known as absolute ethyl alcohol or ethanol, alcohol is a colorless, flammable liquid often used for sanitizing or cleaning. It has also been used extensively as an effective transporter of odors ad scents and has been featured in perfumes, colognes, paints, hand creams, inks, and even explosives.

Alcohol has been used since man first distilled gains and vegetables. Traces of alcohol have been found in pottery dating back 9,000 years, suggesting Neolithic peoples were ingesting it far before recorded history. The Persian alchemist, Muhammad Ibn Zakariya Razi, known in the West as Rhazes, was the first to record its isolation as a compound sometime in the 8th or 9th Century. Approximately 1,000 years later Archibald Scott Couper would publish the structural formula for ethanol.

It took some doing, and several centuries, but the molecular formula of ethanol was mapped out as C2H5OH. It is the product of a fusion of a carbon of the methyl group and a carbon of a methylene group to an oxygen molecule of a hydroxyl group. For those of you who are more scientifically or chemically inclined, ethanol is a constitutional isomer of dimethyl ether.

In the United States, ethanol was used as lamp fuel and even fuel for automobiles until the enactment of Prohibition in 1920. As a fuel source it would be disregarded until late in the 20th century and the new emergence of bio-fuels. As the key component of alcoholic beverages and spirits, it has, of course, endured.

Alcohol, in the form of absolute alcohol, not to be confused with the vodka of the same name, has been the longest used recreational drug in human history. Though it has been used as a means of ceremonial and spiritual communion, alcohol is first and foremost a drug. Indeed, there are numerous industrial and medical uses for the compound, but it seems forever fused into the human experience as a drug.

Have you ever met someone and felt an unbelievable chemistry? It doesn’t happen all the time (or even often), but this is human pheromones at work.

It is true that the matter of whether or not human pheromones actually work is a claim that is widely debated. Scientists have known since 1959 that pheromones are at work in all kinds of animals to control all types of social behavior, but until lately there has been no evidence that humans share this trait.

Recently, however, pheromones have been shown to work in a variety of situations and circumstances for humans as well. Both men and women produce these chemical “scents”, often in there sweat and they are picked up at a subconcious level.

One of the most interesting studies on how human pheromones work was done at the University of Kentucky. Female subjects were shown pictures of men, some sprayed with the pheromone androsterone, and some not. The androsterone treated pictures were judged as more attractive, showing the effect that human pheromones can have on perceptions of attractiveness.

These chemical scents can also benefit you, but there are a few things you need to know.

First, there are many different pheromone manufacturers on the market and some are definitely better than others. In fact, some manufactures claim that there products actually contain pheromones when in fact they either contain too little to make a difference, or none at all. Pheromones are completely unregulated, so buy from a trusted source.

Two. Go light on the pheromones. Pheromones are powerful, but more is often not better or more effective. A general rule of thumb to start with is four light sprays of a cologne or perfume and just two drops of an oil to start. You can always increase if you need more.

Three. Pheromones work, but they aren’t magic. Good pheromone products can and do produce really great results. They certainly can make you seem more attractive, confident, and/or trustworthy. But the effects of these chemicals on others are clear and subtle, rather than “rip your clothes off” dramatic.

When you hear about home energy systems, it is primarily associated with the energy from the sun. The most common residential energy system is the conversion of solar energy into electricity for home use. There are two main types of solar energy, light and thermal. Light energy, from the sun, is harnessed by a collecting medium then transformed into electricity. Thermal energy, which is derived from the heat of the sun, is used to directly warm household water and swimming pools.

A typical home energy system has four components:

1. Solar Cells – Photovoltaic or solar cells made of a semiconductor material in which sunlight is converted into electricity through excitation of electrons. These cells require protection from various environmental and mechanical elements; thus, they are encased in photovoltaic modules or panels. These modules come in different sizes, weights, and shapes.

2. Inverter – An inverter transforms direct current into alternative current electricity.

3. Mounting System – A sturdy mounting system is imperative to secure your home energy systems atop a variety of surfaces from tiled roofs to the shiny exterior of a yacht.

4. Batteries – Batteries are optional as they served as storage for electricity produced.

Home energy systems also use semiconductor materials. The commonly used semiconductor materials in the manufacture of solar cells are:

1. Mono-Crystalline – Mono-crystalline silicon is made by the use of a crystal microtome that thinly slices the material into 150 – 350 microns thickness.

2. Multi-Crystalline Silicon – Multi-crystalline silicon is made by sawing into a block of silicon.

3. Using Amorphous Silicon – Amorphous silicon is produced when a thin layer of the material is placed on a substrate to make a photovoltaic module.

4. The flimsiest material used in solar cells, this film has a width of 1/10 micron.

The advantages of home energy systems are definitely extensive. Among such perks are the following:

1. With solar energy, there is relatively fast turnabout of capital investment considering that solar power companies offer a minimum of a 20-year warranty and solar units can last a lifetime with proper use and care.

2. Because you are self-sufficient in terms of electricity, you are no longer influenced by price hikes of electrical providers. You now have full reigns on the amount of electricity you can generate with your home energy system.

3. There are no taxes yet levied by the government when you harness solar radiation. You are entitled to as much sunlight as your system can get.

4. When it comes to home energy systems, they have low maintenance costs compared to electrical connections with their many wirings and cables.

5. Many governments actually offer incentives for people to switch to home energy systems as part of their environmentalist movement.

6. It is environment-friendly. Unlike renewable energy, solar power does not emit polluting emissions and harmful greenhouse gases such as carbon and methane. Accidental dredging and spillage seen in fossil fuel production is also not possible with solar power.

7. With home energy, there are no dangerous ecological by-products made during solar power production.

8. It is an actual way of helping the environment. You set a good example for your neighbors to hopefully emulate. When you use solar power energy, you actually help conserve other depleting natural energy sources like petroleum and coal for future generation use.

In the strictest sense, termites are eusocial insects classified under the taxonomic order, Isoptera. The term eusocial is defined as having the “highest level of social organization in a hierarchical classification.” Because of their very communal nature, they are usually found in clusters of colonies with a number of individual members that range from several thousand to several million.

Each member of a termite colony instinctively knows their job and how to work with the other members of the termite colony. This swarm intelligence works even in the absence of centralized control. It is a classic example of a self-organized, decentralized system. This allows termite colonies to continue on even if a significant portion of the colony was lost.

The termites social organization is divided into four key groups. Young nymphs which are the undeveloped termite young. The reproductive termites consisting of a primary queen and king, as well as possible secondary reproductives. Worker termites to build and gather for the colony and soldier termites to defend the colony from outside threats.

Termite queens and kings start as young alates, which are winged termites. These termites leave their colonies and fly off to form their own. They officially recive the designation of king and queen titles after having mated and started a colony. The king termite will always stay close to the queen termite and they mate for life. Interestingly, a termite colony can have secondary queen and king termites. These additional reproductives allow the colony to grow and expand quicker.

As the colony grows and is able to support a larger termite family, the queen termites egg laying capacity will increase. As she gets older her body will elongate which will in turn increase her egg laying capacity. A fully mature queen is capable of laying tens of thousands of eggs every single day.

Worker termites are responsible for the task of building and maintaining the nest, gathering food and feeding the other members of the colony. It is actually the termite workers that cause the damage to your home and property. They work tirelessly during their short two to four year life to take care of the colony.

Soldier termites have evolved to make them great defenders against outside predators. Soldiers have enlarged heads and heavy jaws that make them great protectors. If there is ever a break that exposes the hive soldier termites will line the opening, protecting against outside invaders, while worker termites seal the opening. They will also use their large heads to block tunnels, sacrificing themselves to protect the colony.

Termites get their nutrients by feeding on organic matter. More specifically, they feed on cellulose that is found in abundance in wood.

While humans consider termites a nuisance, they fill an important role in nature. Termites accelerate the decomposition and breakdown of trees and wood that would otherwise build up and clutter the ecosystem.

Its no mystery that we are facing a medical shortage. Doctors are getting over reserved and waiting times to see medical specialists, is sometimes stretching upwards to a year. So just what are getting by way of medical treatment in todays age? First off the anatomy of the human body never changes, only our outlook and what we learn does.

It can be more or less discouraging when we have to wait for two hours in a packed Physicians office, where toddlers have everything from a bad cold to a awful bout of the flu. Or infants are crying because they’re worn-out and hungry. Finally when you get by all this, and in reality get into the Doctors examining room, in an hour clock time you ultimately get to meet the physicianface up. Well you had best make the following fifteen minutes count, because that’s likely all the time you are going to get with him. Do not get me wrong ,I am not making lightly of this situation, but the scenery I just coloured is quick becoming a realism.

It has at present come to the point where you need to become innovational with your medical care in order to have the most benefits from it. If you have had to wait 3 wks to make it to see the doc, then be coordinated and prepared when you make it there. The anatomy of the human body can be complex but it can be hands-down when you learn to visualize it a little more. Here are a few pointers to learn for your next call to the Physician.

Keep the greetings brief This is challenging when you have had the same family doc for yrs, It is easy to get into a 10 minutes. talk more or less how the families are, and the children in universities, and so forth. There is nothing wrong with a few minutes of pleasurable conversation, and it is significant to make a attachment with your health care supplier. Maintain it short, you need your time to discuss your topics. Remember there are somebodies out in that waiting room, just like you were.

Get to the point Give the doctor a common thought of why you are there, inform him in as short as way as possible what your symptoms are. For example if you have had a fever of 102 then tell him precisely that. Do not go into a long-term definition of like, well when I got up yesterday morning around 10am and I felt kind of heated up so I ..and on and on. If you continue your conversation to the point, you will have given the Doc a lot more selective information, and rapidly open the doors for him to narrow down the likely trouble.

Simply the Facts Now your doctor will begin asking you queries. Answer them the same way, short to the point, and accurate ,butdon’t leave out several significant points.

You have now covered all of the preliminaries to the doctors examination and you have done this rapidly. This gives him more time to study you thoroughly. Your doc has spent various yrs learning the anatomy of the human body, and equipped with the correct data, he will be able to make a very educated diagnosis.

Every one likes to have the most for their money. It’s tough enough to save cash nowadays with the high cost of living, and then we are becoming more conscious of what we are getting for our dollar. This is no different when it comes to our grocery shopping. We spend time looking for high quality foods at bargain prices. So if we are going to this much work then why not get the most out of what it has to offer. I mean we eat for two reasons, one because we have to in order to live, and the other because we like food.

let’s go on the identical journey as our solid food makes, which is through the digestive system, and learn where we re losing the best it has to offer us ,and what we can do to have the most for our dollar.

In order for our body to apply what we consume it must be broken down into minor molecules so the cells can utilise it to supply energy. This is the task of the digestive system. This begins the second you put food in your mouth.

Do your part – by chewing your food thoroughly, you take those few surplus seconds to let the saliva do its job.

Following point is the stomach after the food goes down through the throat. Three matters are going to occur here. 1st the food will be stashed away here while it goes through some procedures. Secondly the stomach will churn the solid food, liquids and digestive juices wholly together, So third it will slowly exhausted these all assorted contents into the small intestine.

Do your part – take your time feeding so you are not overloading the stomach. Leave it some room to do it’s work.

There are factors that determine how the stomach evacuates, 1 being the varieties of foods it has to break down, and the second being the degree of muscle action that is unavoidable. The pancreas, liver and intestine all supply juices to assist the process that is carried out in the digestive system.

Moving on from the stomach, once it has be broken down into nutrients that can be absorbed, it instantly has attained the digestive stage. Here the great stuff is sucked up the intestines ,so it keeps on its way to do it’s job with the different organs. The remaining is the waste. This is drove down into the colon where it waits to leave the body through bowel efforts. Do your region, nobody wants waste sitting round within of them, so check your bowels are functioning properly.

This is just a very simple explanation as to what goes on with all that good food you gave so much money for. By following these simple guidelines you are more brilliant to get the most for your cash.

As we were moving along on our journeying, we in brief referred several different organs that have a great responsibility in the digestive system. By preparing yourself in the basics of these organs and what keeps them in good wellness only serves to further enhance your overall welfares.

We are referring to the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder. Remember even the muscles should be optimum health to do their job as well.

A handheld anemometer is basically a portable anemometer. It is a very reliable device that can easily help any weather watcher. Anemometers were first developed during the 15th century and have continuously been improvised ever since. The word “anemometer” is derived from the Greek word “anemos”, meaning wind.

The History of Anemometers

The first anemometers appeared in Italy and in Northern Europe before spreading to the Americas. They were very simple and ingeniously designed. It composed of a single flat disc which would shake in accordance to the winds motion. By looking at the inclination of the disc, the people could determine the degree of the wind pressure. By mid 19th century, more sophisticated anemometers were being used as cups were attached to the ends of a wind vane. When wind rose it would be caught by the cups making the vane turn. The number revolutions of the vane were recorded for readings. This kind of anemometer is still being used today. A similar version of this type spins like a wind mill (vertically) instead of the traditional vertical spinning.

Modern anemometers are very impressive devices that can give you accurate wind readings on an LCD display. They use not only the wind to make the readings but also the movement of sound waves, the detection of particles through laser beams, and the measurement of thermal energy.

What can an anemometer do?

An anemometer is a device to measure the speed of wind. It is used for meteorological purposes in weather stations. It can also measure the winds temperature, humidity and pressure. The five types of anemometers are:

- Hot Wire Anemometer – Sonic Anemometer – Laser Doppler Anemometer – Windmill Anemometer – Cup Anemometer

The Handheld Anemometer

A handheld anemometer or personal anemometer is a small device, usually only a few inches in length width, that is able to measure wind very accurately (within %5). Most handheld anemometers are capable of performing the following:

- Easily displays wind readings, – Can read wind chill and temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius. – Measures wind speed (measures up to 100mph easily) in mph, km/h, m/s or Knots

Some personal anemometers have additional features to make the device more appealing. Some brands sell anemometers with a waterproof casing and are able to float on water. Others have included the Beufort Scale for the readings while others are even drop tested to make sure that the product will not easily break. Most handheld anemometers are built to not be affected by the changing directions of strong gusts of wind.

The Uses of a Handheld Anemometer

Many people can benefit from using a handheld anemometer. Since it is convenient to carry around, people who need to be aware of the weather will not have a difficult time doing it. Some people who may benefit by using a handheld anemometer are: engineers, serious kite flyers, wind surfers and climbers

Both professionals and amateurs can benefit from using a handheld anemometer. Since it is handy weather watchers can easily make their own weather forecasts confidently.

The study of human anatomy and physiology has grown over the yrs with better progresses in research and technology. The ordinary person just seems to glide along, taking whatever new medical advancement, when and as needed. For good example, you have barely learned that you have high blood pressure. Not a big deal if it’s controlled.

You leave the Physicians office with a prescription and go about your life. What could happen though, if that blood pressure medicinal drug was not ready, or still worse ,if there had not been whatsoever technology, to even decide what your blood pressure was at. We entirely know that high blood pressure ,if remained untreated can result to a stroke, and worst even death. This is just one good example. let’s take a look at several of the some other leading advances in the survey of anatomy and physiology and see what hazards it blessed us from and what benefits we get from it today.

How would you feel if you went into your Docto’rs clinic and as he was analysing you he pressed his ear up against your chest? No doubt you would be embarrassed, and the Doctor in all likelihood would face sexual charges. Well you can thank the invention of the stethoscope for rescuing you from that unpleasantness. The method I just represented to you, was at some time the entirely way a doc could listen to a patients heart.

To say the least it wasnt the most effective way ,but it was better than nothing. The difficulty with this method was in people who were fat. The beating heart could not be heard through the layers of fat. It was this exact trouble that led a very originative Physician by the name of Dr. Laennec, to the finding of the stethoscope. Of course it has been modernized over the yr but still it is some of the most entrusted diagnostic instruments ready now. If it were not for this instrument, the numerous hearts arrhythmias that mortals suffer from would go unnoticed. All the credit goes to the study of the human anatomy and physiology.

As we before noted, being able to recognize what a person’s blood pressure is, can signify saving their life. When you go into your Physician, and he puts that cuff round your arm that fills with pressure, where you think you arm is going to drop, is named a Sphygmomanometer, normally known as a blood pressure monitor. What blood pressure is, is just the force that the blood exerts on the blood vessel walls. Once More the dependable stethoscope proved to be a life saving tool, when Dr. Korotkoff built a technique for hearing to the sounds of the blood flow of the artery, with the assistance of the stethoscope. It led to a path of turning into an extremely exact method of assessing the blood pressure.

The next time you pay a visit to your family doc for your yearly checkup, take some time to find all the instruments he will use during his testing of you. Then think about what would be the outcomes if something were wrong in the area where he was studying you, and it could’t be noticed. When I carried out this little exercise at my yearly medical checkup I recognise just how blessed I was, and that hour wait to see the doctor didn’t appear to be such a disoblige after all. In addition I had a totally new respect for the study of human anatomy and physiology.

What does the regular mortal know about the heart? We know that if it is not performing the right way and we do not have it in us, then we may be able to survive at all.

by Harry Jones

What does the regular mortal know about the heart? We know that if it is not performing the right way and we do not have it in us, then we may be able to survive at all.

We know that it the pumping system for the maze of blood vessels that run within our body that we know as the circulatory system .Some of us know that the heart has four rooms or compartments, that have to do with blood getting in and blood going out. We are also aware of the signals that the heart is getting into problems. In recent years we have become more alert as to how we can attend to of our hearts. So really then why do we require to learn anymore, I mean we have doctors for that right? Then if this is the case what else do we need to know?

Well, at least we do recognise how totake care of circulatory system and keep our heart whole . It would appear to me though, with such an fundamental item as my heart which is my lifeline, I personally need to know everything I can about how it works, so I can give the greatest care possible. Yes, we all read health articles and thats where majority of our standard knowledge comes from. This is a extraordinary source of information, but there is 1 problem. It is generalised.Which means anybody can make full use out of it because anybody has a heart.

My topic is, were also told that every living person is special, no two individuals are the identical. We all believe this, so then I want to acknowledge everything about my very own heart. Its mine personally so it needs care that is unverifiable. Does anything i said make sense to you?. If I am going to look after something very sacred ,then I need to know all I can about that thing in order to give it the best aid I can. So, i have got to take care of my heart and my entire circulatory system.

What else would i not know about the heart? that would be functional in my care of my very own heart. Lets start with what its made of , which is muscle tissue. Now some us knew that, while others will say who cares. If you dont know anything about the fundamental principle of muscles, then how do you know whats good for your heart, being as its one big muscle?

That gets me to considering. If I knew some more about how to take care of my muscle tissue then I would be serving 2 intentions. That would imply every muscle in my system would benefit. So my own conclusion is, before I go any further with figuring out just what makes my very own personal heart tick, I want to learn more about the muscles. This is the 1st move, before I even look at the rest of the circulatory system.

I for 1, am very much humiliated for not taking obligation for my own heart and circulatory system health. I fear that possibly I have fallen into the trap of becoming health lazy, meaning, that oh well if anything developed l’ll just run to the Doctor and hell fix it. Not only in regards to the circulatory system ,but other regions of my health as well. This kind of mental attitude is partially what has take us into the Doctor shortage crisis some fields are facing, as well as the multitude of money that is spent on health cares.

When you first decided to study the human anatomy there must be a reason.. Perhaps you are planning on becoming a Doctor or Nurse, or various other type of health aid professional. In Reality several people opt to read it just out of own sake. In Any Event you were probably reckoning that you will be reading the other systems, the organs and maybe various unwellness.

You in all probability didnt make very much idea to the basic principles. For instance, to be able to study the right way, you will want to study how to split up the body into pieces. I did not mean the systems. When you have to learn about how something exercises, you must dissect it to see what its constructed of up. The same applies in human anatomy. Visual Image is going to mean everything in your fields. By reading how to visualize the body in sections, will help you when it comes time for the subject in the another arenas. These segments are peculiarly fundamental when it comes to medical visualizing.

When you come to this segment of your learning, take a piece of clean paper, and draw it into four equal boxes. As you start with a section put a sketch , along with the selective information for that particular segment in 1 box. Immediately do the same in the next three. You will have 4 separate cubes of selective information, but when yousee the paper as a whole it is the whole human anatomy. This is an outstanding way to start educating your mind how to visualize.

You will likely then go on to read about positioning and directiong. What this means is what the relationship of one organ is to other. A good way to see this is to have the full body drawn on a piece of paper. As you learn the various positions and directions draw a box pointer on the plot indicating its direction. (a box pointer is a fat arrow that you can color in).

Lets take an exercise. Suppose you are given the terms, cranial, superior, rostra. What are these terms relating to? You in all likelihood got a tip from the word cranial, as it is a somewhat standard term. So what these terms imply is, they refer to a structure being closer to the head, or above another structure of the body. So draw a pointer pointing up from the top of the head. Color the pointer in, (now you can write the explanation in average writing, point form beside the arrow. Place a box around the writing and color it the comparable color as the arrow.

Lets do 1 more. You are given the term anterior, ventral. This implies that the structure is more toward the front than other structure of the body. So draw a fat pointer on the chest signaling out. With anothercolor, fill in the pointer. Once More in average letter of the alphabets write in the significant, and put a box around the writing in the same color as the pointer.

Carry On doing this for each of the terms and views you will be reading. At the last you will have a concentrated study sheet.

It must be pointed that when referring to these terms it is when the body is in the regular anatomical position, which is the body standing erect, limbs extended, palms of hands facing forward.
